50x50cm filter sponge sheets

For a while now we have been using this stuff as an alternative free draining, non decomposing substrate. Available in 20mm and 40mm thick panels we use the 20mm stuff on top of the glass false floor in our Euro vivs, with either strips of 40mm stuff or multiples of the 20mm stuff in the gullies leaving a terraced 60-100mm pool at one end for access to water and also to make siphoning out easier!

In vivs without a false floor we combine sheets to give a raised substrate level again with a terraced/sloped pool in one corner.

Sheets are usually supplied in compressed form, spraying lightly with water helps decompression but the sponge can take over 24hours to fully expand.
