Orange Springtails
Bilobella braunerae* are a fairly new to the hobby species of springtail. Striking red to orange in appearance , and seem to breed slowly at first but once established need to be monitored as over population in small tubs can cause crashes, make sure you split them or move them into something bigger. These are freshly set up cultures with between 100-200 adult springtails in 1000ml containers the same as our normal springtails.

*Bilobella braunerae, or is it Yuukianura aphoruroides, the Orange Springtail is a bit of a mystery, there is a chance the ones we have are in fact Bilobella braunerae but most people nowadays accept that they may actually be Yuukianura aphoruroides, both a very similar in appearance to the native eye and even under magnification the differences are small but what we do know is they aren’t Neanura growae the Florida orange springtail….. oh hold on no they could in fact turn out to be the same although it might mean that the Florida oranges are just an introduced population of Yuukianura aphoruroides!
Feed Isopod protein diet 80g – Fantastic Frogs, to get the best results offer regular protein treats of aquarium flake foods or dried gammarus shrimp.
