Oophaga pumilio “Bastimentos Red Frog Beach “
Isla Bastimentos is famous for its pumilio, these youngsters are from our group of Red Frog Beach origin frogs, sadly over generations the population has reverted to their orange and white colouration however our young are showing signs of much variation in spot size and density as well as intensity of red/orange colouration.
Distribution: Northern end of Isla Bastimentos, Bocas del Toro province Panama, known to occur in the forest along the edges of Red frog Beach.
Habitat: Often encountered in highly altered areas, including gardens as well as surrounding open forested areas. These areas have fluctuating humidity, seasonally experiencing periods of very low rainfall.
