Description

Big personality and standout colour. Give these active dart frogs room to explore your mini jungle.

Your mini jungle

Build a planted forest floor with deep leaf litter, sheltered feeding spaces and low branches. Keep the substrate damp but well drained, with dry leaf surfaces and good ventilation.

Minimum vivarium

60 × 40 × 40 cm (width × depth × height). One compatible adult pair. Avoid treating a minimum-sized vivarium as a communal group setup; females can be territorial.

Bigger is typically better for your mini jungle. These are minimum enclosure dimensions, not a target to squeeze in extra frogs. Allow for the space taken by drainage, substrate and planting, and increase the enclosure size if usable space is reduced.

Temperature and humidity

  • Daytime target: 23–26°C. Around 20–23°C at night. Avoid prolonged heat above 28°C.
  • Relative humidity: 75–85%. Brief rises after misting are normal; provide airflow and avoid keeping the whole enclosure constantly soaked.

Check conditions where the frogs actually sit, with a thermometer and hygrometer. Use a thermostat for any heating and keep the enclosure out of direct sun.

Food and egg feeding

Feed suitably sized live insects, with appropriate amphibian calcium and vitamin supplementation.

Obligate egg-feeding tadpoles? No. Tadpoles do not depend on unfertilised eggs supplied by their mother; use a suitable species-specific rearing diet.

About these frogs

CB2021/22 Sub adult/large juveniles, these are often called Tumus or Peacock tincs, but the intense yellow orange markings on their heads really set them apart.

Collection and transport

We much prefer collection in person: meet us, see your frogs and talk through their care. If you cannot collect, you must arrange and pay for a specialist live-animal courier with the authorisation required for the journey to collect from our site. Please agree the collection date with us before booking. We do not post frogs: Royal Mail does not accept them, and ordinary parcel delivery is not available.

Cancellation and refunds

If you cancel an accepted frog order outside any statutory cancellation right, we may deduct only reasonable, evidenced costs directly caused by the cancellation that we cannot recover or avoid. Any deduction will be the lower of those costs, 20% of the price paid for the cancelled frogs, or £100 per order. It is not an automatic fee. We will take reasonable steps to reduce our loss, account for resale and other recoveries, and explain any proposed deduction before refunding. Contact us promptly with your order number if you need to cancel. Your statutory rights are unaffected. No charge under this policy applies when you exercise a statutory right to cancel, or where we cancel or fail to fulfil the order. This policy applies to new orders placed from 3 October 2026; it does not add charges to earlier orders.
