Description

Banded leaves arranged in a low star. Cryptanthus zonatus spreads relatively slowly, giving the foreground a strong patterned accent.

In your tropical vivarium: Plant into a well-drained pocket at the front of your tropical vivarium. Frame it with leaf litter or moss, keeping the crown above the substrate.

Care essentials: Bright, filtered light and lightly moist roots. This is a ground-growing bromeliad: give it potting mix, rather than treating it as a bare air plant.

Also at home: Pot up in a small container with drainage for a bright shelf or windowsill away from direct midday sun.
