Description

A low star of foliage for the foreground. Cryptanthus bivittatus fits between leaf litter and taller plants to build a layered forest-floor look.

In your tropical vivarium: Plant into a well-drained pocket at the front of your tropical vivarium. Frame it with leaf litter or moss, keeping the crown above the substrate.

Care essentials: Bright, filtered light and lightly moist roots. This is a ground-growing bromeliad: give it potting mix, rather than treating it as a bare air plant.

Also at home: Pot up in a small container with drainage for a bright shelf or windowsill away from direct midday sun.

Plant details: Supplied in a 9cm pot.
